Eight!

In eight days (or less) I will be holding my new little girl! I am 2 1/2-3 centimeters dilated, 80% effaced and that the baby has dropped a little. The doctor didn't say if I had effaced anymore since last week so I assume I'm still at 80% which is awesome! I'll take anything more than the 1/2 centimeter and 50% I was with Desi. I've been measuring small the last few weeks so the doctor sent me down for an ultrasound just to make sure everything was okay (low amniotic fluid, stopped growing from lack of nutrition from the umbilical cord, etc.) and it was. They estimated from the measurements on the ultrasound that today she weighs 6 lbs 12 oz so if that's close to accurate, she'll be about the same as Desi. I was thinking in the high 7's but I guess that would only be if I went to my due date. The tech said she could see a little bit of hair on her head but it doesn't look like it was near anything that Desi had, so I guess we'll see. I can't wait to meet her and see what she looks like! I feel like she is already different in personality from Desi because of the way she moves inside me but only time will tell! It's so funny because I remember thinking having the baby was sooooooooooo far off and that I would never get to the single digits in counting down days and now it's finally here! Any last minute words of advice?

Guessing Game

So I forgot to have everyone write down their guesses for the baby at FHE the other night. Anyone care to take a stab at when the baby will come? Leave the day, weight and height and we'll see who's closest! Hint: My doctor said today that she will induce me on October 21st! She also said that I have a good chance of going on my own earlier but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed.

Just Some Pictures!

These pictures are all a couple months old but I thought I should start somewhere. Desi loves to say "cheese" when we take her picture.

Desi wanting to help us paint our new house. She leaned against the wall to look out the window and ended up with paint on her tummy.
This girl LOVES water! We walked past the Gateway fountains and she wanted to play. Of course it didn't matter that she had clothes on, she just wanted to get wet!
My Mom kept this old truck my brothers used to play with and she thought it was just her size even though as you can see, it's not meant to be ridden.
Desi loves feeding herself especially chocolate! She took the lid off the pan and helped herself to some cake before I caught her.

Easter

This picture is from Easter 2009...And this one is from Easter 2010.
I just looked through some pictures from this last year and I can't stop crying. I don't like that my baby is now a little girl! I love the new things she can do and the personality that shines through but I miss that baby stage too! It's a good thing I'll have another soon.

Strawberry Jam

Last week, I found strawberries for a good deal and decided I wanted to learn how to make strawberry jam. I was surprised at how easy it was.
My Little Helper
Desi loves to put on her apron and help in the kitchen!
Pure sweetness! (Thanks Mom for the help!)

Poor Desi

Desi had a bad day two weeks ago! First, I had her ears pierced. I felt horrible because she cried but even worse, I think it was worth it! They are so cute! I had thought about it off and on and Tom actually really wanted me to do it. Weird, huh? Well, that night I went to Old Navy with Erin, Maggie and Desi. And being the carefree or should I say careless mother that I am, I let Desi stand in the cart. She's done this tons before and never had a problem because she screams when I belt her in. We were headed to the checkout when I stopped to look at the baby swimsuits and show one to Erin. BAM! You guessed it...Desi had tried to climb out of the cart and fallen on the floor. (I should have known better especially because she had been trying to climb everything for a few days.) The following pictures will show you what can happen if you don't follow those instructions on the cart! She must have smacked her forehead on the metal bar and somehow flipped over because she was on her back. An Old Navy employee took down my information so she could fill out an accident report form and gave Desi an ice pack and sucker. Oh man, what a day!

Fifteen Months

We went to the doctor's for Desi's fifteen month visit and she looks good! No ear infection! She is catching on to the shot thing. When I lay her down on the table she gets nervous and starts to wiggle. Needless to say, she was NOT happy! I wish they gave out suckers, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad. She is 30 3/4 inches long which puts her in the 75th percentile and is in the 30th percentile for weight at 21.5 pounds.

St. George

Tom has been working in St. George during the week so Desi and I went down to visit him last week. I had fun shopping and Desi had lots of fun playing at the playground. At first she was hesitant of the slides but after we went down with her a couple times, she wanted to go again and again! She loved just being able to walk around and play with what she wanted. We stopped by the St. George Temple one night and went through the visitor's center. We also stopped at the WalMart and I saw this sign next to where we parked. Huh! None of us knew what to think. How can someone tell if your kids are sick or not and if they are, I hope they don't normally have to drag them into the store!

Horrible Mother

I'm a horrible mother and you will agree with me when you hear what I did. Two weeks ago, I put some small candles out in my room to make it smell better and went in the other room to put Desi to bed. I got distracted about picking out what to wear for church the next day and within a minute I heard Desi from the other room crying. The first thought that went through my head was that she had tripped and fallen but I ran into my room and she was holding the candle! Some wax had dripped onto her finger! I felt soooooo bad! I thought the candles would be fine because of course I was putting her to bed! So now she has/had a blister on her finger. I wonder how old she will be when she touches the stove...

Whew!

I'm sure you all think that I don't have a good excuse for not blogging but here's what I've been up to the last two and a half months.
Starting November 18th:

Desi turned ONE!

The next week was Thanksgiving.

At the beginning of December, we took Desi to Temple Square for the first time.

Before we knew it, it was Tom's birthday and the day after that was Christmas. And a week and a half after that, it was my birthday.

Then two weeks after that, Tom and I celebrated our 4th anniversary!

And after another two weeks, we sold our house!
In the midst of all of that, Desi is on her fourth round of antibiotics for her second ear infection she's had in the last two months and she has cut four molars! She is now 14 1/2 months old, walking around like crazy and shares her opinion with just about anybody! She has quite the sense of humor and when she wants to she gives the best kisses! She is so sweet but don't let that fool you, she's got a temper!
